A young dancer takes the stage in Major Lazer‘s new video for “Know No Better,” a QuavoTravis Scott and Camila Cabello-assisted single from the group’s EP of the same name. Check it out for yourself below.

The new visual follows the exploits of a young dancer who escapes the less-than-pleasant aspects of everyday life by daydreaming about being a backup dancer for Major Lazer. The Philip Andelman-directed video continually juxtaposes the boy’s actual life with his imaginary one. In one scene, bathroom bullying turns into a makeout session with the girl of his dreams.

In another, we see the boy zoning out during a chemistry class, imagining himself dancing for Travis Scott. Unfortunately, that scene ends with his haphazard ways causing a fire in the classroom. You get the idea.

Andelman says working with Major Lazer, a music collective that recently teamed with Bacardi to get aspiring artists studio time,  is a dream come true and that he drew from his own daydreaming adventures to create the concept for this new visual.

“For me, Major Lazer is the ne plus ultra of dance music videos,” Andelman says in a statement. “It’s always been a dream of mine to work with them and be included in their insane canon. Which is where the idea for the video started, with a daydream. I used to space out all through high school about being the sickest guitarist in the world to impress girls but all I could play in real life was a quarter-speed version of Slash’s solo from [Guns N’ Roses song] ‘Sweet Child O’Mine.’”

Andelman contextualized his idea by including a young dancer who struggles with a nasty sibling and a boring, sometimes perilous school life. “I thought it could be fun to do a video that married a kid’s daydream of being a Major Lazer backup dancer (i.e. the ultimate goal for any dancer out there) with the reality of quotidian ass-kickings and unbearable siblings,” he says.
